As you all may have read in my previous post, I had acrylics on for the longest time, which weakened my nails tremendously. I tried so many different nail treatments to hep them grow and strengthen and for awhile I just gave up. It was one night I was talking to my cousins and the topic of her sister came up…she used to bite her nails for the longest and I remembered that we put garlic in the nail polish, hoping the smell would prevent her from putting her fingers in her mouth ( we were really young). After awhile, she noticed that her nails were getting really hard, and when she finally managed to refrain herself from biting her nails, they rarely broke.
So, I decided to cut up some fresh garlic and add it into a clear nail polish and let it ‘sit’ for about 7 days and then applied this to my natural nails. The smell is not so great, but it does go away, and it really does work. Garlic has so many strengthening properties and it is a ‘natural antibacterial’ as well. So, for my ladies who struggle with weak, brittle nails; give this a shot, there’s nothing to lose… but weak nails
.
Just take some fresh garlic, not a lot, then chop it up and add it to any clear polish you desire. I used a Sinful colors hardener nail polish ( I like the strong stuff
)
Please let the garlic sit in the polish for 7-10 days…I let mine sit for 10-15 and that’s just a personal preference. Hopefully you enjoyed this DIY strengthening polish and comment below if you have tried this, or have any other recommendations.
